OUR MISSION

 FocusWave Clinic’s mission is to be Canada’s premiere clinic for the treatment of Men’s Sexual Health conditions (Erectile DysfunctionPeyronie’s Disease, Premature Ejaculation, Chronic Pelvic Pain SyndromeUrinary Incontinence / BPH), Female Sexual Dysfunction (Leaky Bladder, Anorgasmia, Vulvodynia, Lack of Libido & Arousal) and Chronic Orthopaedic Pains using focused shockwave therapy.

The clinic is currently seeing patients in our Ottawa and Kitchener – Waterloo locations.

With the highest quality shockwave therapy equipment, approved for use by national regulators to treat various indications, our clinicians are Nurses in good standing with The College of Nurses of Ontario, and they hope to repair, and ultimately reverse, the most serious health issues you face every day.

Focused or Linear Shockwave Therapy, while more costly than radial or acoustic therapy, is a revolutionary treatment that provides a painless, drug-free, non-invasive solution for many different patients.

Owner and President of Focuswaveclinic

DREW KLEIN, B.Sc. PRESIDENT & CLINIC DIRECTOR

Drew graduated from the University of Waterloo as the Valedictorian of the Year 2000 Science Faculty.

In his final year of study, he achieved the highest grade (A) completing an Honours Research Project on the effect of oxidative stress on transgenic mice with Dr. John Carlson’s Animal Physiology PhD team.

Following graduation, Drew spent the next 20 years in high finance and high technology. Drew moved to Los Angeles, California and worked in the commodity brokerage business as a licensed futures broker and branch manager. In 2005 he started his own Introducing Brokerage firm – which he ultimately sold to a Chicago-based FCM.

In 2010, Drew returned to Ottawa, and until 2020, he held the role of Vice-President / Director of International Business Development, leading the sales and marketing team of a publicly traded technology business.
The company has become a world leader in commercial mobile antenna manufacturing and design.

Although healthcare has always been of specific interest to Drew, it took a global pandemic to renew his passion for the field.
He started FocusWave Clinic in October 2020 to help local men improve their vascular wellness and sexual health, and he is working daily to reduce the stigma attached to sexual dysfunction. 

Drew is a Board Certified Sexologist (American Board of Sexology), a member of the ISSM (International Society for Sexual Medicine) and a certified Focused Shockwave Therapy Clinician (Storz Medical, 2020).  

Drew is President of FocusWave Clinic and runs the day to day operations.

Dr. MICK MARKUS MD, MPH & TM FRCPC, CPSO

Dr. Mick Markus is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with a specialty designation in Occupational Medicine, and a member in good standing of the Occupational Medicine Specialists of Canada.

He has served as a medical director and consultant to some of the largest Canadian disability management & occupational health organizations, and to several Toronto-area hospitals. Mick is a certified Medical Review Officer for US DOT and non-DOT drug testing in the workplace, and he regularly conducts reviews for the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board.

Mick holds an Opioid Dependence Treatment Certificate and has a wealth of experience as an addiction medicine physician. He earned his MD and FRCPC from the University of Toronto, and his MPH&TM from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.

KURT Registered Practical Nurse

KURT REGISTERED NURSE

Kurt graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2006 and worked for 10 years at Zamboanga del Norte Hospital in the Philippines.

He has worked in Canadian health care facilities since arriving in Canada in 2017 and has recently completed his RN Certification in the state of New York.

Kurt is a certified shockwave therapy clinician and has treated Ottawa patients with a focus on Erectile Dysfunction, Peyronie’s Disease, Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome, and Bladder Incontinence.

He is a member of the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.

DEAN REGISTERED NURSE

Dean graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Laurentian University in 1999. After graduating he took on a Registered Nurse position in a remote hospital in Northern Alberta. There he gained a great deal of experience in the management of patient loads in Emergency, Geriatric, Obstetric, Medical, Post Operative & General Surgical areas, eventually holding the Nurse In Charge of the hospital position on some occasions.

Working in a Supervisory role at a Covid-19 Vaccine clinic in the Waterloo region and an agency nurse over the past couple of years, has given him the time to find new interests in innovative medical technologies and how they can be applied to help improve men’s sexual health. With his own age nearing 50, Dean wanted to share his knowledge and help men in the region take their overall health seriously and improve their sexual function. Dean is now located at the FocusWave Clinic in Waterloo Region based in the Functional Medicine Uptown Clinic.

No, you don’t need to bring anything to your appointment. We simply ask that you come to the clinic prepared and as hygienically as possible to be able to start your appointment on time.

No, focused shockwave therapy is a painless experience for most of our patients. The process may feel strange or even a bit uncomfortable. However, pain is exceptionally rare. In some cases, depending on your skin sensitivity, there may be some redness that lasts for less than 24 hours.

Depending on the treatment you’ve recommended, you’ll be in and out of the office within 20 to 25 minutes. Focused shockwave therapy is extremely convenient for your busy day. You can expect to get back to your day-to-day routine immediately after your treatment.

Yes! After your treatment, you should be able to return to your daily activities immediately. Focused shockwave treatment is a non-invasive option, ensuring no downtime after each treatment session.

Each patient reacts differently to their treatment. Some patients will notice an immediate improvement. However, it often requires a few sessions to see any measurable results. Most patients see a marked improvement in their condition following the completed series of treatments. FocusWave Clinic is a private clinic, and we do not accept any forms of insurance at this time. However, we understand that our clients need and deserve focused shockwave therapy treatment to alleviate chronic pain and ED, which is why we’ve partnered with Credit Medical. Credit Medical is a convenient and affordable way for patients can finance their treatments. View our financing page to qualify.

In addition to Credit Medical, we accept cash, debit or major credit cards, or cheques. After your initial consultation, you may submit full payment or a deposit covering your first three treatments if you qualify for focused shockwave therapy. The balance will be required at the start of the fourth treatment.ty, there may be some redness that lasts for less than 24 hours.
