Focused low-intensity shockwave therapy aims to improve circulation in the erectile tissue by stimulating new blood-vessel growth and repair of the vessel lining. Evidence is strongest for mild to moderate vascular ED; results vary and some men choose maintenance sessions. Sessions take about 20 minutes, with no anaesthetic and no downtime.
Peyronie’s Disease
In Peyronie’s disease, scar tissue (plaque) in the penis can cause curvature and pain. Shockwave therapy is mainly used to reduce pain during erections; the evidence for straightening curvature is weaker. It is a non-invasive option to discuss alongside other treatments, and we’ll be clear about what it can and can’t do in your case.
Premature Ejaculation
Focused shockwave therapy is being studied for premature ejaculation, aiming at nerve sensitivity and pelvic-floor function. The evidence is newer and less established than for erectile dysfunction, so we assess each case and discuss all options, including behavioural approaches and medication.
Urinary Incontinence & BPH
Focused shockwave therapy may help some men with urinary symptoms linked to an enlarged prostate (BPH) or mild incontinence. Evidence is still early. New urinary symptoms should first be assessed by your family doctor or a urologist; we’ll work alongside that care.
Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS)
Chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS) can affect daily life and sexual health. Randomised trials have shown pain reduction with focused shockwave therapy for many men with CPPS. It is a non-drug option that can sit alongside physiotherapy and other treatment.
Hard Flaccid Syndrome
Hard flaccid syndrome (HFS) causes a persistently semi-rigid or “rubbery” penis in the flaccid state, often with discomfort. It usually appears in men in their 20s and 30s and is distinct from classic erectile dysfunction. Research on HFS is limited, so we start with a careful assessment and an honest discussion of options.
