Considering Shockwave Therapy for ED? Ask These 3 Questions.

If you are considering Shockwave Therapy for treating your Erectile Dysfunction or sexual health condition, and are looking at available options, make sure you ask your clinic the following questions:

1) Will this treatment help me to perform like I did when I was 20 years old?

(ANSWER: NO! Run away from liars who make false and exaggerated promises.)

2) What type of Shockwave equipment are you using for this treatment? Is it an approved device for treating my Sexual Health Disease?

(ANSWER: Ottawa’s FocusWave Clinic uses Focused Shockwave Therapy, an approved treatment for Erectile Dysfunction, Peyronie’s Disease, and Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome. Radial / Acoustic / Pulse waves aren’t approved for treating sexual health conditions – they can’t reach the depth required to treat your condition, and for most people, they hurt.)

3) Does the treatment hurt, will I need numbing creams, and will there be any downtime?

(ANSWER: Focused Shockwaves might feel weird – but they are generally painless. No numbing creams are required. You can resume sex immediately after leaving the clinic. No bruising or side effects have been noted.)

Don’t be fooled by the lure of unlimited treatments with an inferior technology. Call FocusWave Clinic, Ottawa’s only locally owned Focused Shockwave Therapy Clinic, to find out more.

Boner Pills?

Boner pills
Boner Pills

We all know guys who have tried Boner Pills ‘just for fun’.

More than 90% of our patients at FocusWave Clinic have used these Phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5i – Viagra, Cialis, Levitra) to improve erectile function.

But these aren’t recreational drugs – they are short term performance enhancing pharmacological agents that may or may not improve your sexual congress.

And despite the reports of awesome banging that result from their ingestion, PDE5i may come with tremendous side effects.

Patients confirm detailed reports of nausea, headache, runny nose, back pain, tinnitus, dizziness, and many others.

Couple in Bed

For the majority of men, however, the pills DO work.

Maybe not as often as you think – 30-35% of patients fail to respond to them.

PDE5i non-responders almost always have co-morbidities, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, among others (1).

These drugs are potent vasodilators, relaxing the smooth muscles in the penis, improving blood flow, and facilitating erection during sexual stimulation.

Interestingly, they have recently been shown to have the potential to improve cardiovascular health in certain circumstances (2).

But, as with many medications, our patients often report diminishing returns, as the pills’ positive effect tends to weaken over time.

This may be related to tolerance and efficacy as well as correlated with a decline in patients’ overall health (3).

The bottom line is that boner pills are more of a treatment of the symptom rather than an attempt at a curative effect.

T-shirt with message

This is why Focused Shockwave Therapy has such tremendous potential for those suffering from sexual health conditions like Erectile Dysfunction (ED), Peyronie’s Disease (PD) and Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS).

Shockwave Therapy attacks the cause of the problem – not the symptom.

It works to improve blood flow to the penis by promoting the neovascularization process – the creation of new blood vessels from the existing vasculature.

Shockwave Therapy Treatments are quick, painless, side effect free, and totally non-invasive.

There’s no numbing creams, no surgery, and no downtime.

You can leave the clinic after your treatment and go have sex with your partner.

The ultimate goal of our patients is the return of spontaneous, strong erections, without the obligatory ‘tiny blue pill’.

Focused Shockwave Therapy offers patients the best chance to achieve natural erections, without the need for surgery, injections or pharmacological medicine.

The Big Five of Sexual Health

pillars

The Big 5 of Sexual Health

The Big 5 of Sexual Health

One of the most common questions by our patients is:

What can I do during the treatment course to improve my outcome?

At FocusWave Clinic, we view Sexual Health as being comprised of five major components:

Diet, Exercise, Sleep, Stimulation & Sex.

These often are interdependent.

If you notice one of them starting to erode, you may be at risk of losing them all.

Let’s go through them one by one:

Diet

Feed your body shit – you will feel like shit AND you will look like shit.

Sorry – but there’s no way around this.

When our patients start FocusWave treatments they tend to make a simultaneous goal to ALSO lose that extra weight.

They make it a mission to improve their eating habits, reduce junk food consumption, and incorporate more of the foods that ACTUALLY make them feel good.

They do their best to stop drinking to excess.

They try to ditch the cigarettes and ease up on the boozing and doping.

We can’t change your lifestyle – it’s up to you.

But it’s clear that those who improve what they input into their bodies get MUCH better results.

Read about Intermittent fasting, anti-candida cleanses, consider a visit to a Naturopath or Nutritionist (we can refer you!) – WHATEVER works FOR YOU – to get you on the right track.

Many sexual health conditions, like ED, are vascular diseases – and they can be a harbinger of illness.

Use this warning sign to your advantage by making the necessary changes to your diet and improve your overall cardiovascular health.

Recently we put out a list of sexual health friendly foods – let us know if you need some great recipes!

Exercise

Extra calories and less activity can mean a higher risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

All of these conditions, and several others, are very common among sufferers of sexual health diseases.

With the gyms closed, you have to be creative.

Most of us love some form of physical activity – but stupid COVID has made it easy to sit on the couch all evening.

We have so many trappings of comfort – Uber Eats, Netflix, and a plethora of excuses.

But to quote David Goggins:

“Get your fucking running shoes on, pussy!”

Take 10,000 steps per day (that’s 80-90 minutes of walking).

Get outdoors!

Play with your kids or grandkids.

Do 100 pushups every day.

Can’t do 100?

Start with 1.

Practice Yoga (free videos on Youtube).

Have lots of sex! (More on that below).

Do whatever it takes to wear some sweat – everyday.

A body in motion will generally stay in motion – and the opposite is true, as well.

Sleep.

Some of us have brains that seem to operate 24/7.

We get that.

But shutting ‘er down, however you can, is so critical.

Critical for our appetite, our blood pressure, our immune system, etc.

Poor sleep habits have a huge range of deleterious cardiovascular effects.

They can also lead to higher stress levels, less motivation to be physically active, and unhealthy food choices.

And so It goes without saying that 7-8 hours of solid sacktime – EVERYDAY – is the absolute minimum mandatory to rejuvenate your mind & body!

Turn off your screens, keep the blinds closed tight, wake with the sun, make sure your mattress is as good as you can afford.

Stimulation

And by that, we mean intellectual stimulation.

Read a book, learn something new, challenge yourself.

It’s easy to get stuck in a rut – men we are a stubborn breed – but make a commitment to yourself to DO SOMETHING for your brain.

Your brain needs – no, it CRAVES your support – and you may be ignoring it.

You can only play Candy Crush or read the same garbage media for so long before your mind turns to goo.

Sex

That’s why you came here.

It all comes back to your sexual health.

Make sure that you are doing everything you can in the diet/exercise/sleep/stimulation pillars to get you in the mood.

Make a move, initiate contact, get intimate with your partner.

You can do it by yourself – but it’s never as fun.

Why Focuswave Clinic?

Focused Shockwave Therapy is an amazing medical technology – approved as both safe and effective for treating Erectile Dysfunction, Peyronie’s Disease & Chronic Pelvic Pain. If you are considering the treatment, make sure your clinic is using FOCUSED or LINEAR Shockwaves, NOT Radial or Acoustic or Pulse waves. Focused Shockwaves (what we use here at FocusWave Clinic) are electromagnetic, painless, and produce true shockwaves. The latter are inexpensive, generally painful, and mostly ineffective at treating many sexual health conditions because they don’t produce true shockwaves.

ALL THAT MATTERS TO US IS THAT YOU IMPROVE!

To your best health,

The FocusWave Team

Foods to Supercharge Your D

carrots
Carrots

You may have seen some of our recent social media posts regarding certain foods that can supercharge male fertility and have some ‘uplifting’ effects in the bedroom.

Here’s a short compilation of these foods which you should definitely add to your Victoria Day Weekend Menu.

And don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube

1. Carrots

Carrots are a male fertility superfood. Just look at the picture and don’t ask questions. But seriously, research suggests that the carotenoids in carrots are excellent for improving sperm count and motility.

2. Spinach

Popeye never suffered from #erectiledysfunction. Why? Too much spinach! Spinach is a huge source of folate – proven to improve your penile blood flow. Add some COOKED greens to your salad or as a side with your weekend BBQ!

3. Chili Peppers

Chilis for your D – Spice up the bedroom! They call it: “Natural Viagra”! Did you know that men who eat spicy foods have higher-than-average T-levels and that the active ingredient in chili peppers, Capsaicin, triggers the release of endorphins that can make you feeling ‘hotter’ in the bedroom?

4. AVOCADOS

When the Aztecs discovered the avocado in 500 BC, they named it āhuacatl, which translates to “testicle”. We speculate this is because of its shape – but there’s no denying the positive effects avocado can have on your #sexualhealth. Avocado is loaded with both Zinc and Vitamin E, which can increase levels of free testosterone and improve the quality of your sperm. Combine with chili peppers to make a beautiful and sexy guacamole (Need a recipe?)

5. APPLES

What’s the old saying: “An Apple a Day – keeps your D strong and healthy!”

Did you know that apples (particularly the peel) contain ursolic acid, which has been shown to starve prostate cancer cells. So crush those apples so you can continue crushing it in the bedroom…

6. WATERMELON

Did you know watermelon is a food that can improve your erection? It’s loaded with (you guessed it) WATER, and also lycopene which is an antioxidant that’s good for your heart and prostate.

Have a wonderful long weekend!

How Often Do You DO IT?

Couple In Bed
Couple in bed

Sexual frequency is an interesting topic.

It’s quite common knowledge that people in their 20’s engage in sex much more frequently than those in their 60’s. In fact, studies show that the average 20-something has sex 4 times more often (on an annual basis) than your average 60 year old 1.

Interestingly, our sexual proclivity has declined over the last generation – we are having less sex today than we were 25 years ago.

Sexual health conditions can get in the way of a healthy sex life.

Erectile Dysfunction, Peyronie’s Disease, and Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome are all treatable, even reversible, using Focused Shockwave Therapy.

Ottawa’s FocusWave Clinic is the ONLY locally owned focused shockwave therapy clinic treating sexual health conditions to get you back on track.

Shockwave Therapy Success Rate?

Elderly couple enjoying
elderly couple enjoying

A frequently asked question by our patients is: “What’s the success rate of Focused Shockwave Therapy for treating Erectile Dysfunction?”

And the short answer to that is: “Well, it depends.”

For how long have you been dealing with your condition?

Did you recently have prostate surgery or cancer?

Are you a heavy smoker? Boozer? Coffee addict?

Does your diet suck?

Do you exercise enough?

Are you significantly overweight?

If you have diabetes – is it under control?

Depressed? Stressed?

Do you have a regular (and willing and supportive) sexual partner?

Whether you need shockwave therapy for ED, Peyronie’s Disease, or Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome, your results will depend on many of these factors.

The long answer, for Erectile Dysfunction specifically, is that about 70% of men in peer reviewed studies show improvement in their conditions over the short and long term with Focused Shockwave Therapy.

A few of the more impressive studies can be read at the following links:

here (study 1) TLDR: “There is convincing evidence in the literature that Li-ESWT is able to generate efficacy data in many patients with the so-called organic ED of vasculogenic origin and that in subsets of patients these positive effects are durable up to 2 years.”

here (study 2) TLDR: “Shock wave therapy with or without concomitant treatments improved the quality of erections in patients with erectile dysfunction.”

here (study 3) TLDR: “The randomized single-blind study confirms that Li-ESWT significantly improves erectile function.”

At FocusWave Clinic we have seen EVEN GREATER rates of success – closer to 80% in the short-term.

Check out what some of our patients have been saying about their results in their TrustPilot reviews: https://ca.trustpilot.com/review/focuswaveclinic.com

Why are we seeing better than expected results?

We have a few theories.

First of all – FocusWave Clinic uses the Industry Standard, Focused Shockwave Therapy device, made in Switzerland by the pioneers of the modality, which sends powerful electromagnetic, linear shockwave directly to the treatment zone.

Many clinics use radial or acoustic or pulse wave devices which aren’t true shockwave therapy devices, and cannot achieve the depths required to treat many conditions.

So it’s critical that If you are seeking impotence treatment via shockwave therapy – make sure your clinic is using FOCUSED or LINEAR Shockwaves. Most all the positive peer reviewed studies are using FOCUSED or LINEAR Shockwaves, not Radial or Acoustic or Pulse waves.

Another potential reason for improved patient outcomes is that FocusWave Clinic is flexible with our treatment plans and protocols.

Clinical studies tend to be quite rigid for control purposes. But we realize that everybody, and everyone’s condition, is somewhat unique.

At FocusWave Clinic, we offer additional treatments and tune-ups, we can and will vary the frequency and intensity of the shocks, and we also encourage positive health changes in our patients (diet, exercise, lifestyle transformations) by recommending additional modalities to help you overcome your condition.

Ultimately, our patients come to FocusWave Clinic to treat the cause of the problem – not just the symptom.

Reversing sexual health diseases and restoring natural erections is possible without injections, needles, pain, and perpetual pharmacological assistance.

Shockwave Therapy Treats Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome

Stomach ache
Stomach ache
erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, chronic pelvic pain, ED, impotence, ottawa clinic, ED clinic, shockwave therapy, CPPS, erection problems

Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS) in men is a frustrating and difficult condition to treat.

Currently, there is a lack of guidelines for the management of CPPS.

Symptoms include Pain in the lower back and genital area (perineum), urinary frequency and urgency (often at night), erectile dysfunction, burning or painful urination and ejaculation, and reduced quality of life (QoL) which may be even greater than the pelvic pain itself [1].

CPPS is often diagnosed as non-bacterial prostatitis, a condition for which there is no known infection present.

While almost 50% of men will experience some form of chronic pelvic pain over the course of their lives, the prevalence of chronic prostatitis / CPPS in the population ranges from 8% to 10% [2].

The vast majority of studies show that Focused Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is both a safe and effective treatment for CPPS.

Please see the following links to learn more:

Study 1 – “Our findings confirmed the effectiveness and safety of ESWT in resistant cases of CPPS in the short term.”

Study 2 – “Our studies confirmed ESWT therapy as a safe and effective therapy in CPPS in short-term follow-up…”

Study 3 – “….reveal perineal ESWT as a therapy option for CPPS with statistically significant effects…”

Study 4 – “ESWT is an effective and safe short and long-term treatment modality for patients with chronic pelvic pain syndrome.”

Note that the studies with the most promising results are using FOCUSED Shockwave Therapy, and specifically the Storz SD1 Duolith device (used here at Ottawa’s FocusWave Clinic) which is approved for treating CPPS by the National Regulator.

At FocusWave Clinic we offer flexible treatment courses to improve, and possibly reverse, your Chronic Pelvic Pain.
